E-61
The Faema E-61 was the best selling espresso machine in 1960s Italy, especially popular among purveyors of small local cafes. Relatively small and spunky in appearance, its mark on Italian culture was similar in status to that of another Italian design icon, the Fiat 500.
The E-61 was the first commercially successful semi-automatic espresso machine. It had a volumetric pump that delivered hot water at a continuous 9 bars of pressure, eliminating the need for a lever that had been the standard.
